My Adult Opinion

My husband and I have always been swingers. If we hadn't been swingers we'd never have met. Now I can't imagine how anyone can live their lives with a partner who never looks any further than that one person they've married.

George and I devour life. I think that's a fair way of putting it. It probably wouldn't endear us to the church congregation (although a few of them are swingers too) but what we do with our own lives isn't anyone else's business.

The way we met was quite funny. It was in a sex shop in the middle of London called Lovecraft. Lovecraft sold all sorts of sex toys, videos and magazines but we met in the clothing section. We both had a thing for rubber. George was buying rubber briefs and I was buying a rubber bikini.

"Sorry. I didn't see you," he said as he bumped into me.

"That's what they all say," I said.

He laughed a little nervously so I introduced myself. "The name's Lynne. I really love all this stuff but it's so hard to find a man with the guts to even try and look sexy."

Soon we were chatting like we'd known each other for years. He took me for a candle light dinner and said: "The thing is Lynne that I really really like you but I have a problem with committing to one person. I always find myself looking around at other women."

I told him that this was fine. I liked other women and other men. I was worried at first that he might see me as a slut (which would be fine because I guess I kind of am). In fact he just smiled broadly. Without that fear of exclusivity it's so much easier to really commit to a serious relationship. I love George but the fact that I can have sex with other men with different qualities means a lot to me. I know he feels exactly the same way. I only love one man and he only loves one woman but we both like tasting the bodies of new people. I think it's something about enjoying the aroma of a new person that keeps you feeling fresh and alive.

What's interesting when you find out more about swingers and swinging is that those married couples who are willing to experiment a little in this way have a tendency to stay married longer and even live longer and healthier lives.
